To continue the meaningful journey of offering life-changing surgery for Vietnamese disfigured children, from 15th October to 19th October 2018, Hong Ngoc General Hospital will collaborate with Facing the World Charity (FTW) to examine and operate for children with craniofacial defects. This is the 5th mission of Facing the World at Hong Ngoc General Hospital.
Within the framework of the program, disadvantaged children who have severe maxillofacial and oral deformities will have a chance to receive free examination and surgery performed by the leading maxillofacial and oral experts of Facing the World and Hong Ngoc General Hospital.
Dr. Mehmet Manisali
Dr. Mehmet Manisali has worked as consultant in Maxillofacial Surgery and lecturer to undergraduate medical students and MSc students at St George’s Hospital and Mayday Hospital, Kingston Hospital and more.
He is also the member of numerous renowned associations including Royal College of Surgeons (Ireland), British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, British Medical Association, and European Association of Cranio-maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Syed Jahrad Haq
Dr. Syed Jahrad Haq is working as Senior Craniofacial Fellow at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital after studying and working for London Deanery, St George’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, and more.
He is the member of prestigious medical associations such as British Medical Association, British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons British, Association of Head and Neck Oncology Faculty of Dental Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and European Association of Cranio Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Lucy Davenport
After gaining her fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Dr. Lucy Davenport undertook postgraduate training in Orthodontics, gaining a Masters in Science degree. Her qualifications also include BDS (Hons) and MFDS RCS (Edin) MOrth.
Dr. Nguyen Nguyet Nha
Dr. Nguyen Nguyet Nha was former Deputy head of Craniofacial Department at Hanoi National Hospital of Pediatrics and worked at Craniofacial Center of Changgung Menorial Hospital (Taiwan) and Paris VI Medical University (France). She has been working as plastic surgeons at Hong Ngoc General Hospital. For years, she has cooperated with numerous teams of international experts such as Operation Smile American surgeons, Interplast (Netherlands), and Globe Care (Korea).
Examination and operation plans
During 5 days from October 15 to October 19, Facing the World team of surgeons and Hong Ngoc Hospital specialists will examine for each case of deformity and decide to offer several operations.
On the first day (15 October), children who have passed the application screening will be invited to examination at Hong Ngoc General Hospital. Here, apart from the normal examination, each patient will have a chance to ask for related problems and receive helpful advises from the experts to improve their conditions. The doctors will also consult in the most suitable time of treatment for each case. On the next days, surgeries will be arranged for patients with most suitable conditions.
To further support for the disadvantaged children, Hong Ngoc General Hospital will help them after the operation by offer necessary medical care, sharing the financial burden with their family.
