From 6 May to 9 May 2019, the chain of seminars on ophthalmic, nasal reconstruction and plastic surgery is taking place at the Main Hall of Hong Ngoc General Hospital. The seminars are conducted by the world’s leading specialists from Facing the World Charity. This would be a precious chance for Vietnamese doctors to enhance their capacity as well as exchange skills and knowledge with the UK experts.
From Hong Ngoc General Hospital, Dr. Cao Doc Lap – the hospital’s director – and Dr. Nguyen Nguyet Nha – former head of Craniofacial Department of National Hospital of Pediatrics – will attend these special seminars. Dr. Nguyen Nguyet Nha has also cooperated with Facing the World’s experts during their missions of charity surgery at Hong Ngoc General Hospital. In addition, the event attracts numerous specialists and doctors from the hospital’s departments such as General Surgery, Plastic surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, and more.
Leading the team of Facing the World Charity this time is Dr. Niall Kirkpatrick – the charity’s Medical Director. He was Consultant Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon and Lead Clinician of Craniofacial Unit – Chelsea & Westminster Hospital London (UK). Other experts include Dr. Daniel George Ezra – Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, Dr. Simon James Eccles – Consultant in Craniofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Dr. Naresh Joshi – Consultant Oculo-Plastic Surgeon of Craniofacial & Oculoplastic service, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Dr. Kevin Tsang – Neurotrauma Consultant of Imperial College NHS Trust, and Dr. Paul Gerarchi – specialist in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery from The Face Institute, Sydney.
As estimated, the seminars would attract more than 100 doctors and experts from Vietnam based leading hospitals such as 108 Military Central Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, National Hospital of ENT, National Hospital of Pediatrics, National Hospital of Odonto – Stomatology, and Bach Mai Hospital.
Since 2016, Facing the World Charity, in collaboration with Hong Ngoc Hospital has successfully performed numerous charity surgeries, bringing life-changing opportunity for disfigured children to integrate to the community. Moreover, Facing the World Charity has organized a variety of medical workshops and seminars, helping local doctors to improve their skills and knowledge so that they can directly perform complex surgeries.
This year, from 4 May to 11 May 2019, in addition to the program of charity surgery, the Charity’s specialists will conduct 4 in-depth medical seminars, focusing on orbital conditions and Fractures, non syndromic and syndromic craniosynostosis, eyelid and nasal plastic surgery. These practical topics would surely be valuable for Vietnamese doctors working in the fields.
During the seminars, on the basis of exchanging knowledge and experience, participants are allowed to put questions to the speakers and share their information during examination and management of these conditions and problems.
The chain of in-depth seminars on ophthalmic, nasal reconstruction and plastic surgery at Hong Ngoc General Hospital is considered a milestone of Facing the World Charity on its orientation of training Vietnamese doctors. By enhancing their capacity through practice and medical seminars, Vietnamese doctors would perform complex reconstructive surgery for disadvantaged children who have birth defects.
